Rumken, Inc. is located on the Front Street Mall. During the summer, there are many weekly events.

Mall events - Monday’s - Classic Car Show, Thursdays - Ice Cream Social (area bands play from Noon to 2:00pm), Friday’s - Rockin’ of the River (area bands play from 5pm. to 10pm.), Irish-American festival, Italian-American festival, Oktoberfest.

    Akron Aeros Baseball - Cleveland Indians AA farm team plays in the newly constructed 8,000 seat Canal Park Stadium. Open April till September

    Derby Downs - Home of the annual All-American Soap Box Derby Race. Also houses a museum of soap box derby cars dating back to 1935.

    Six Flags World of Adventure - Is a marine life park, a water park and a thrill park with more than 100 rides and attractions, including stage shows, water rides, turtle beach for younger children, and restaurants. The marine park features Shamu - the killer whale, a shark encounter, and the dolphin cove. Check their web site for operating hours.

    Dover Lake Water Park - Seven water slides, two intertube rides, wave pool, softball diamonds, sand volleyball courts, open-air cafe and picnic areas. Open June 7 until Labor Day.

    Boston Mills/Brandywine Ski Resorts - adjoining ski resorts featuring 18 slopes, illuminated night-time runs, ski lifts and state-of-the-art snowmaking equipment. Accommodating skiing and snowboarding.

    Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad - 26-mile trip through Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area making stops at Hale Farm, Quaker Square and National Inventors Hall of Fame.

    Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area - 33,000 acres of park land along a 22-mile section of the Cuyahoga River. Year-round activities include picnicking, hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, canoeing, sledding and skiing.

    Summit County Metro Parks - 11 parks totaling 6,600 acres featuring picnicking, hiking, bicycling, sledding, skating, nature centers and an arboretum.

    Area Lakes - Portage Lakes, West Branch, Nimisilla, Mogadore - offering boating, fishing, water skiing.

Cleveland, Ohio

Located on the shores of Lake Erie and offering many cultural and recreational sites, Cleveland is only 45 minutes via interstate from our Rumken office. We have listed some of Cleveland's most famous attractions.

    Cedar Point - home of 14 roller coasters, more than any other park on the planet. In 2000, Cedar Point opened Millennium Force, which at 310 feet, is the tallest roller coaster in the world. Cedar Point also features other top-rated coasters, such as Magnum XL-200 and Raptor, and hundreds of other rides, shows and attractions.

    Cleveland Browns Football - Cleveland's beloved NFL team returned as an expansion team in 1999 and plays in the newly constructed Cleveland Browns Stadium.

    Cleveland Indians Baseball/Jacobs Field - The Central Division Championship Clevaland Indians play at the newly constructed 43,368 seat park, Jacobs Field.

    Cleveland Cavaliers Basketball/Gund Arena - NBA men’s basketball team playing at the 20, 562 seat capacity Gund Arena.

    EJ Thomas Performing Arts Hall - 3,000 seat hall, events include ballet, opera, popular music concerts, musicals, stage shows, speakers, and other events.

    Blossom Music Center - summer home of the Cleveland Orchestra, concert events include, classical, popular, jazz, rock, & blues.

    Akron Art Museum - features regional, national and international works of art, as well as temporary exhibits and summer jazz concerts in the courtyard of the museum.

    Akron Symphony Orchestra - 85-piece orchestra led by Maestro Alan Balter.

    John S. Knight Convention Center - accommodating up to 3,500 people, with conventions and public events scheduled throughout the year.

    National Inventors Hall of Fame - home of the National Inventors Hall of Fame and Museum.

    Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens - 65-room Tudor "castle" built by the Seiberling family, founders of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Tours of the home and gardens are conducted year-round. There are also many special events held at the mansion.

    Hower House - 28-room Italianate-style mansion built in 1871 for the family of industrialist John Henry Hower. Tours available year-round.

    John Brown Homestead - Museum and Home of abolitionist John Brown built in 1830. Tours available February thru December.

    Simon Perkins Stone Mansion - Greek Revival mansion and museum built in 1837. Tours available February thru December.

    Akron Zoo - 150 varieties of birds, mammals and reptiles. Ohio Farmyard exhibit especially nice for younger children.

    Hale Farm and Village - Living history museum including 21 restored homes and buildings from the 1800s. Costumed guides take visitors on a tour of a sawmill, smokehouse, blacksmith shop, schoolhouse and period homes. Open year-round.

Canton, Ohio

Located 30 minutes south of the Rumken office, Canton offers many interesting attractions.

    Pro Football Hall of Fame - since its opening on Sept. 7, 1963, the Pro Football Hall of Fame has been expanding. The 5 building, 82,307 square foot complex houses several museums, a theater, library, and gift shop.

    McKinley Museum and National Memorial - Memorial rotunda is the resting place of the 25th U.S. President, William McKinley. Grounds include gardens, museums and the McKinley Library. Open year-round.

Cleveland, Ohio

    Rock & Roll Hall of Fame - dedicated to the history and development of Rock & Roll music, the 150,000 square foot museum houses permanent and special temporary exhibits, as well as several theaters and a gift shop.

    Great Lakes Science Center - with over 350 interactive exhibits and a six-story OMNIMAX theater, the science center is a fascinating place for visitors to explore the wonders of science and technology.

    Cleveland Museum of Art - founded in 1916 and including 70 galleries, recent traveling exhibits include Pharaohs (treasures and artifacts from Egyptian tombs), Faberge in America (included many of the famous Faberge eggs), and The Vatican Treasures (many of the pieces dating back to the sixth century). Open year-round.

    Cleveland Museum of Natural History - Ohio’s largest and oldest natural history museum houses many displays including prehistoric animals, rocks and gems, and a planetarium.

    Cleveland Orchestra - founded in 1918, present director Christoph Von Dohnanyi. Past directors included the famous Lorin Maazel and George Szell. Summer performances are held at the Blossom Music Center. The remainder of the year, performances are held in Severance Hall.

    Playhouse Square - encompasses four theaters, the Palace, the State, the Ohio, and the Allen, representing a wide range of entertainment.

    Cleveland Zoological Park and Rainforest - founded in 1882 and encompassing 165 acres, the Cleveland Zoo is one of the largest urban zoos in the country. Over 400 species are exhibited. The Rainforest showcases the diverse plant and animal life of our diminishing rainforest ecosystems.
